SAT Dates: Deadlines and Score Release

Get current SAT dates, registration deadlines, late cutoffs, and score-release timing, then build a backward plan for your test day.

SAT Dates: Deadlines and Score Release

SAT dates still open for the 2026-2027 year run from November 7, 2026 through June 5, 2027. College Board lists six remaining weekend administrations, and each one has its own registration deadline, late-change cutoff, and student score-release date. Picking a Saturday is the easy part. The useful choice is the date whose score will be in hand before the application or scholarship deadline that actually matters.

Start SAT tutoring timed to your chosen test date.

This calendar is current as of October 21, 2026. August 22, September 12, and October 3, 2026 have already passed, so they appear only where a score-release date still matters. Confirm any date you will actually use on College Board before you pay, because centers and fees can change.

If you only need the two remaining fall Saturdays, our SAT Dates 2026 guide already covers November and December. The tables below add the spring 2027 dates, the late-registration cutoffs, and a backward-planning calendar from the date you choose.

What SAT Dates Are Still Open?

The open SAT dates are November 7 and December 5, 2026, then March 6, May 1, and June 5, 2027. October 3, 2026 is listed because its registration window just closed, and some families are still waiting on that score.

College Board says registration is open for every remaining fall 2026 date and every spring 2027 date. These dates apply to students in the United States and to students testing internationally. Deadlines expire at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, even if you register from another time zone.

Test dates and both deadline columns come from College Board's SAT dates and deadlines page. Student score-release dates come from the score release calendar. Late registration is available worldwide, and extra fees apply.

Sunday testing is a separate path for students who cannot test on Saturday because of religious reasons. Those students request Sunday testing through College Board. They should not assume the Saturday registration deadline covers that request.

How Do Registration Deadlines Change the Date You Can Use?

A SAT date is usable only if you can finish registration before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on its deadline. The late window adds four days, then it closes. After that, the date is gone.

Treat the regular deadline as the real decision point, not the late one. Late registration can save a date, but it costs more, and popular centers can fill before you get there. If you need a specific city or a morning start, register on the regular deadline.

Students who need to borrow a device from College Board have an earlier clock. They must register and request the device at least 30 days before test day. For November 7, that request date is October 8, which is already past. For December 5, the 30-day mark is November 5, well before the November 20 registration deadline.

Spring borrowers should use the same rule. March 6, 2027 needs the device request by February 4. May 1 needs it by April 1. June 5 needs it by May 6. Those dates sit ahead of the published registration deadlines, so a family that waits for the regular cutoff will miss the loaner window.

Bluebook setup is the other date that families skip. Finish exam setup in Bluebook and open the admission ticket no later than five days before the test. For November 7, that checkpoint is November 2. For December 5, it is November 30. A setup error found on Friday night is much harder to fix than the same error found a week earlier.

When Do Scores Come Back After Each SAT Date?

Most weekend SAT scores reach students about two weeks after test day, and the June score takes a little longer. College Board lists a student release date and a later date for the K-12 score reporting portal.

Use the student date when you are planning an application. November 7 scores are scheduled for November 20. December 5 scores are scheduled for December 18. March 6, 2027 scores are scheduled for March 19. May 1 scores are scheduled for May 14. June 5 scores are scheduled for June 21, which is 16 days rather than the usual 13.

A score on a release date is not the same thing as a score inside a college portal. College Board says students can send scores to colleges, and processing time after that can vary by college. If a school wants the score in its own system by a hard date, pick a release date that leaves a buffer, not a release date that lands on the deadline.

K-12 educators see weekend scores a few days later in most cases. November 7 scores reach the K-12 portal on November 23. December 5 scores reach it on December 21. March, May, and June 2027 portal dates are March 22, May 17, and June 21. Families who need a counselor to send a report should plan around the portal date, not only the student date.

School-day testing uses a different calendar. SAT School Day, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 8/9 in fall 2026 run October 1 through October 30, and schools handle registration. Spring 2027 school-day testing for SAT School Day, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9 runs March 1 through April 30. Those windows are not weekend SAT dates, so do not use the weekend deadline table for them. Our PSAT guide covers what the school-day practice test is for.

How Do You Build a Backward Calendar From One SAT Date?

Start from the score-release date you need, then walk backward to registration, Bluebook setup, and the first full practice test. The test date is the middle of the plan, not the start.

Use December 5, 2026 as the worked example. It is the last fall date, and many families treat it as the early-application backup.

  1. Mark December 18 as the student score-release date. Add December 21 if a counselor must send the report.
  2. Mark December 5 as test day, and November 30 as the five-day Bluebook and admission-ticket checkpoint.
  3. Mark November 20 as the regular registration deadline and November 24 as the late cutoff. Do not plan to use November 24.
  4. If a loaner device is required, mark November 5 as the last day to request it.
  5. Place one full-length digital practice test about four weeks out, in the week of November 7, and a second one about ten days out.
  6. Keep the two weeks before test day for timed review of missed question types, not for new content.

The same walk works for spring. A student who needs a score before a May scholarship date should not choose May 1, because that score arrives May 14. March 6, with a March 19 release, is the date that leaves a buffer. A student who can wait until summer can use May 1 or June 5 and spend the extra months on the question types that still miss.

Registration itself is a short online task once the date is chosen. Our SAT sign-up notes cover what to have ready before you reach College Board's registration page. Fees change, so read the current fee table there instead of trusting an old number.

Robert's take: choose the earliest date that still leaves a real block of practice, and keep the next date as a retake only when the first score will miss the deadline. A date you cannot prepare for is not a safer choice. It is a more expensive practice test.

What SAT Date Fits a First Test, a Retake, or a Deadline?

Choose November or December when a fall score must exist. Choose March for a spring score with a buffer. Choose May or June when you can wait. The right row depends on the deadline, not on which Saturday feels calmest.

November 7 is the tight fall option. Registration closes October 23, which is two days from this writing, and scores return November 20. Choose it only if preparation is already underway and a December score would be too late. It is a poor first start for a student who has not taken a full digital practice test.

December 5 is the last 2026 weekend date. Registration closes November 20, the same day November scores come out. That pairing is useful. A student who sits November 7 can read the November 20 score and still register for December on the regular deadline, if the center is open. Do not count on the November 24 late window for that decision.

March 6, 2027 is the first spring date, with registration closing February 19 and scores on March 19. It suits a student who wants the fall for coursework and still needs a score early in the spring. It is also the clean retake if a December score missed the goal and summer deadlines are still ahead.

May 1 and June 5 leave the most preparation time. May scores arrive May 14. June scores arrive June 21. Both are late for many early deadlines and for some scholarship dates, so check the school's date before you treat June as the comfortable choice. Our summer SAT prep guide is the better read if the real test will be next fall rather than this spring.

A first test and a retake should not be the same kind of guess. Take one official practice test, sort the misses, and only then decide whether the next date is close enough. The SAT math question guide and the free digital SAT practice guide are for that review. The digital SAT prep guide explains the two-module format those practice sets use. For score ranges after the result arrives, use the SAT scores guide.

What Should You Do in the Weeks Before Your SAT Date?

The weeks before a SAT date should confirm logistics first, then repair the misses from one timed practice test. New programs started ten days out rarely change the score.

One week after you register, confirm the test center, the device you will use, and the photo ID you will carry into the room. The ID must be an acceptable physical ID, because a screenshot or a phone photo is not a substitute. Put the five-day Bluebook checkpoint on that same list so setup does not compete with the final review.

Then look at the score you are trying to move. Northside's current test-prep tutoring is $165 an hour for one-on-one work. A 20-hour small-group cohort is $2,780, payable in full or in four monthly installments. Subject tutoring, if the gap is a course skill rather than an SAT question type, is $150 an hour one-on-one or $95 an hour in a small group. Those figures are the October 2026 rates on our pricing page.

Two shorter options exist when the date is already close. The 4-hour Score Boost Sprint is $900 and is built for the two weeks before a test date. The 10-hour Score Boost Sprint is $2,250 and is built for the four weeks before a test date. Requests inside one month of the test use the higher short-window pricing, so ask before you assume the standard rate still applies.

You can book the 4-hour sprint or the 10-hour sprint directly. Accepted payment methods are credit card processed by Stripe, cash, and check. Northside does not store card numbers. A sprint is preparation support, not a promise of a point gain.

If you are still deciding between the SAT and the ACT, settle that before you spend a registration fee. The ACT vs SAT guide is the comparison, and ACT tutoring is the matching service if the ACT date is the better fit. The SAT examination overview is enough if you only need the format before you register.

Frequently Asked Questions

What SAT dates are left in 2026?

As of October 21, 2026, the remaining 2026 weekend SAT dates are November 7 and December 5. October 3 has passed. Registration for November 7 closes October 23, and registration for December 5 closes November 20. Both deadlines are 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

When should I register for a spring 2027 SAT date?

Register by the regular deadline: February 19, 2027 for March 6, April 16 for May 1, and May 21 for June 5. The late window closes four days after each of those dates and costs extra. If you need a borrowed device, register at least 30 days before test day instead.

How long after a SAT date do scores come out?

Most weekend scores are released to students 13 days later. November 7 scores are scheduled for November 20, and March 6, 2027 scores are scheduled for March 19. June 5, 2027 is the exception on the current calendar, with a student release on June 21.

Can I still switch SAT dates after I register?

You can request a change until the change deadline for that date, which is the same day as the late-registration deadline. For November 7 that day is October 27. For December 5 it is November 24. After the change deadline, plan on the next open date instead of assuming a same-week move is possible.

Does a later SAT date leave enough time for applications?

Only if the student score-release date, plus the college's own processing time, lands before the deadline you care about. A June 5 test with a June 21 release is too late for many spring deadlines. March 6, with a March 19 release, is the spring date that usually leaves a buffer.

Choose Your SAT Date, Then Start the Work

Write one SAT date on the calendar today, then add its registration deadline, its five-day Bluebook checkpoint, and its student score-release date on the same line. If that score date misses the application or scholarship deadline, move one row earlier in the table and run the same check again.

Then match the remaining weeks to the kind of help that fits. A student with months left can use weekly tutoring. A student inside four weeks of test day is usually better served by a short sprint aimed at the misses already on paper. Either way, the date only helps if the score arrives in time to use it.
